Samantha Ruth Prabhu Revives Heritage Silk Saree With Timeless Elegance

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu once again showcased her love for traditional Indian weaves while promoting her upcoming Telugu film Maa Inti Baangaram. The actress stepped out in a striking pista-green handwoven silk saree designed by textile revivalist Sourav Das, drawing admiration for its blend of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary styling.

The saree pays tribute to the renowned Venkatagiri weaving tradition of South India, known for its elegant checkered patterns and lightweight appeal. Crafted in luxurious Chanderi silk, the ensemble featured delicate gold zari checks that added a regal touch while preserving the understated charm associated with classic handwoven textiles. The design also incorporated an Aurangabadi-style pallu and a distinctive ‘chataai’ border highlighted by intricate diamond motifs, gold triangles, and striped detailing.

According to the designer, the look was inspired by the celebrated artistic style of late Andhra Pradesh artist Lakshminarayana Sattiraju, popularly known for his iconic “Bapu Bommalu” illustrations. The vibrant contrast between Samantha’s bright green saree and pink brocade blouse reflected the artist’s signature use of bold, contrasting colours.

Styled by Pallavi Singh of Open House, Samantha completed the ensemble with traditional navaratna jhumkis, a pearl-adorned ear chain, and elegant bangles. Her beauty look remained understated, featuring kohl-lined eyes, fresh makeup, and soft cascading waves adorned with fragrant jasmine flowers.

The appearance once again highlighted Samantha’s ability to celebrate India’s rich textile heritage while making traditional sarees relevant for modern fashion enthusiasts.
