The much-awaited sequel to the cult action drama Awarapan 2 has officially completed principal photography, marking a major milestone for the production. Backed by Vishesh Films, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
Produced by Vishesh Bhatt and directed by Nitin Kakkar, the sequel was filmed across multiple locations in Rajasthan and Southeast Asia. The makers announced the wrap of the principal shoot, generating excitement among fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of one of Emraan Hashmi’s most memorable characters.
Emraan Hashmi reprises his role as Shivam, nearly two decades after the release of the original Awarapan. The actor’s return has been one of the biggest talking points surrounding the project, as the first film went on to achieve a strong fan following over the years.
Joining the cast is Disha Patani, who collaborates with Vishesh Films for the first time. The screenplay has been written by Bilal Siddiqui, with the creative team aiming to build upon the emotional depth and action-driven storytelling that made the original film popular.
Released in 2007, Awarapan was directed by Mohit Suri and featured a strong ensemble cast including Shriya Saran, Ashutosh Rana, and Purab Kohli. With filming now complete, anticipation is steadily building for the sequel’s release next year.
