The much-awaited horror-fantasy sequel Tumbbad 2 is steadily progressing toward its planned 2027 release, with production now in full swing on an enormous custom-built set in Mumbai’s Madh Island. Starring Sohum Shah in the lead role and directed by Adesh Prasad, the film has already generated significant excitement among fans eager to revisit the eerie world introduced in the original cult classic.

According to sources close to the production, the makers have constructed a sprawling set that stretches across several acres of land. The ambitious project reportedly took more than six months to complete, reflecting the scale and detail being invested in the sequel. Since construction wrapped up, filming has been taking place continuously at the location, which has become a major production hub for the movie.
The set has reportedly become so closely associated with the film that local residents have started referring to the area as the “Tumbbad Ground.” While the filmmakers have kept details about the scenes being shot there under tight wraps, insiders suggest that the elaborate setup is crucial to recreating the dark and immersive atmosphere that made the first film memorable.
Adding to the excitement, acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has officially joined the cast of Tumbbad 2. He will share screen space with Sohum Shah in what is expected to be a significant role. Sources reveal that Nawazuddin recently completed a major portion of his schedule and was even filming during the Eid festivities.

Currently in production, Tumbbad 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 3, 2027, and is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year.
