Bollywood actor Diana Penty turned heads at the ongoing 2026 Cannes Film Festival, bringing a masterclass in heritage fashion to the global stage. Attending an event at the high-profile Bharat Pavilion, the actress chose to bypass predictable Western gowns, opting instead for a breathtaking, custom-designed golden saree by ace Indian couturier Manish Malhotra.
The ensemble beautifully bridged the gap between traditional Indian roots and modern red-carpet aesthetics. Crafted from an innovative custom metallic knit, the saree featured a rich, molten texture that resembled delicate gold chainmail, wrapping her silhouette flawlessly. Malhotra juxtaposed the fluid drape of the saree with a sharp, structured blouse boasting sculpted puffed sleeves and a plunging neckline. A contrasting, flowing ivory pallu added an ethereal layer of drama, catching the French Riviera breeze as she posed.
Sharing glimpses of her look on social media, Penty appropriately captioned her ensemble, “Cannes dipped in a little Indian gold,” further explaining that in India, gold represents deeply rooted cultural heritage rather than just a color.
The actress kept her styling intentionally minimal to let the craftsmanship take center stage, accessorizing with exquisite tourmaline statement earrings from Chaula’s Heritage Jewellery. Her beauty look featured a sun-kissed, goddess-inspired palette—complete with glowing bronzed skin, soft earth-toned smoky eyes, structured brows, and a classic nude lip.
At the pavilion, Diana was also seen posing with acclaimed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, cementing a proud moment for Indian cinema and fashion on the global platform.
